About the Creator: Ronin Uchino

Every story is a bridge between the past and the present. For writer and comic creator Ronin Uchino, that bridge spans from the ancient coalfields of Fukuoka, Japan, to the historic mining towns of Coahuila, Mexico.

Creating under a pen name to honor his unique heritage, Ronin is the great-grandson of Minosuke Uchino—one of the original Japanese contract laborers who crossed the Pacific in the early 1900s to build a new life in Mexico. Growing up with a legacy rooted in both Japanese resilience and Mexican culture, Ronin developed a lifelong fascination with historical and fantastical storytelling.

Today, he channels that passion into the comic medium, blending rigorous historical research with dynamic sequential art. His latest work brings the chaotic, high-stakes world of the Sengoku Era to life, capturing the human stories and fantastical elements behind Japan’s age of warring states.
